Melasma

Melasma is a dark skin discoloration found predominantly on sun-exposed areas of the face and chest. It's a very common skin disorder that can be treated with the advanced lasers at American Medical Aesthetics. The group of people most affected by this skin disorder is young women with darker skin tones. It is also extremely common in pregnant women and women who are taking contraceptive pills or hormone replacement therapy. The risk is also higher for people who have been over-exposed to sunlight, and those who don’t wear proper sun block. Melasma first appears like sun spots or sun damaged skin, and later develops into a more extensive “mask-like” coverage of the skin.
